about

Some bands have the goods in the ways that matter, but lack the business savvy or schmoozing skills to work the mainstream joints. The Fashion Jungle was such a band, despite a loyal following that included two of the leading rock journalists in Portland, Maine, in the 1980s. Fortunately, Portland was home (and still hopefully still is, given a prolonged pandemic hiatus) to Geno's — the self-proclaimed "Home of the Best Bands" — where we were lucky enough to get bookings as often as we wanted. Here are some selections from a booking on Oct. 12, 1984, one of the Jungle's final public performances with keyboardist Kathren Torraca.
