about

Three 1994 demo recordings by the Boarders, a rock band from Portland, Maine. Why the keys? It was a subtle reference to the idea of people who live in boarding houses; and as I was working as a features journalist at the time, I understood how journalists would pay more attention to your activities if you gave them presents. So Gretchen and I epoxied pin backs onto a bunch of keys and sent them out with our press kits. Never saw anyone besides me wearing one, though.
