about

I present these recordings an as accompaniment to a post on my website, Notes From a Basement (www.dhubley.com), but it's really a mismatch. That post dwells on the last years of the Howling Turbines, 2001-2004, in which our music had a distinct decline-of-the-empire quality -- but these songs are from our growth years, 1998-99. I offer them because I can't put cover versions up for sale. But it was covers, by Lou Reed, John Cale, Leonard Cohen and others, that really formed the soundtrack of that final chapter of the band.
