The Boarders - Slow Poison (1995 hot take)

from Songs by Doug Hubley: You Know How It Is by Doug Hubley

/

about

I wrote “Slow Poison” for the Cowlix in 1990, aiming for an Everly Brothers kind of thing that proved beyond my reach. Trying to render it in a John Doe–Exene Cervenka harmony did not help! But the song nevertheless made it into the ’Lix setlist and thence to the Boarders’, whose energy suited it well, as this crackling, slightly over-the-top rehearsal recording demonstrates. Recorded on four-track in the Basement on Oct. 18, 1995, at the peak of the Boarders’ powers.
