about

Vaguely inspired by the Carter Family, the idea of a song about love that’s like a destructive clinging vine came to me in 2006 during one of my noontime rambles around Lewiston, Maine, where I used to work. When I finished "Bittersweet" in January 2010, it put an end to a songwriting drought of more than 10 years. This live version was recorded in Westbrook, Maine, at Quill in June 2018.
