The Howling Turbines - Looking for That Christmas Feeling

from Obsessive Christmas Disorder by The Boarders, Howling Turbines and Doug Hubley

/

about

In the 1980s I had more more of a knack than I do now for writing impressionistic lyrics, as exemplified by this number, mostly composed in 1981 but with an introduction added in 1984. The lyrics of the main body of the song are rooted in 1981 (I drank a lot of Freixenet that year) but the intro is its own little world, a response to global warming and an homage to torch songs that I was understanding better than ever by the time I turned 30.
